Welcome to the
Practice Patient Participation Group
and
Practice Health Champions Pages
DO YOU KNOW WHAT A PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP (PPG) IS AND WHAT THEY DO? DID YOU KNOW THAT EVERY GP PRACTICE MUST HAVE ONE?
A PPG is a collection of patients at a surgery, just like you, who are interested in health and health issues, who want to get involved with and support the running of their local GP surgery. We meet regularly with the practice staff to decide ways and means of making a positive contribution to the services and facilities offered to its patients. The PPG are not a ‘forum for moaners’ , they are a route for patients to advise and inform the Practice on what matters most to patients and to help identify solutions to problems. Our PPG members think about the wider patient interest and not just their own personal concerns when serving on the PPG.
What do we do?
The PPG activities vary as they develop and evolve to meet the needs of our Practice population. Through the support of the Health Care Champions, volunteers who are patients, we run a number of activities from fund raising to support groups where our aim is to benefit our patient community.
Every Monday we run a Friendship/Craft group based at Sedbergh Community Centre 10.30 – 12.00. We do a number of different crafts but for those not into crafting it’s also a great way to get out of the house, have a coffee and a natter and make friends.
Every Wednesday there is a coffee morning in the Practice waiting room from 9.30 – 11.30am, call in, grab a drink and a biscuit and chat with the volunteers. We can direct you to other activities that take place locally.
Every Friday 11.00am we have a walking group called ‘Low Moor Strollers’ , they meet at Harold Park, Park Road entrance. The walks are for suitable for all abilities and are a great way to keep fit, meet new people and explore your local area; again this is led by one the Practice Healthcare Champions.
In a nutshell we are here for the benefit of our patients, if you have some spare time and would like to be a PPG member or one of the Health Care Champions please get in touch. We are all patients ourselves trying to improve services for each other so we can all live our lives better. Please support us.
If you have any comments you would like to share with the PPG Chairman please email:
Please don’t ever feel isolated or lonely, call in and see us and we will try and direct you to local activities.
Best wishes,
